Issue # 7 of The Drift

Helping you automate work and reclaim time with AI-every Tuesday

🌟 Editor's Note

This newsletter is for builders, operators, and overthinkers who strive to do more with less. Every week, I share the exact tools, prompts, and frameworks I’m using to automate grunt work and scale smarter with AI. If you’re looking for flashy trends, this isn’t it. If you want clarity and leverage, you’re in the right place.

🚀 Stay Inspired

Hey — glad you're back.

We’ve talked about automating inboxes and identifying high-leverage tasks.

But here’s a hidden gem that can save hours and eliminate headaches:

Automating your status updates.

Because if you’re still rewriting the same “weekly update” for a client, a team, or yourself…

You’re wasting high-quality mental energy on low-impact copy/paste work.

⚡ Quick Win: Automate Weekly Updates with ChatGPT + Notion

Here’s how I turned my weekly check-ins into a 3-minute task, without sacrificing clarity:

1. Set up a recurring Notion template

Create a database or page titled “Weekly Update.” Include sections like:

  • Top progress this week

  • Roadblocks

  • Priorities for next week

  • Notes or metrics

2. Drop in your raw notes throughout the week

Don’t worry about writing well, just dump bullet points or copy from Slack, ClickUp, etc.

3. Use this ChatGPT prompt to auto-draft the update:

“Using the info below, write a clear weekly status update. Keep it brief and professional. Highlight key wins, any blockers, and next steps.”

Then paste your notes and let AI do the heavy lifting.

4. Review + hit send

I send mine via email, Slack, or just share the Notion link.

✅ Looks clean
✅ Communicates value
✅ Saves 20–30 mins per report

🧠 Why It Works

Weekly updates don’t need to be genius-level.
They need to be consistent, informative, and out of your head.

Automating this one task frees up creative space and shows clients you’re reliable without needing to hover over it.

You don’t need more tools.
You need smarter habits backed by AI.
